University Of Limpopo Fencing Club: Sword Vs Mind

Fencing is a combat sport that features sword fighting where one utilizes a sword to get the better of their opponent.

Research has proved that fencing improves mental acuity, focus, decision making and coordination. The University of Limpopo Fencing Club led by their chairperson Mr Mpe Mpho,Has confirmed that fencing is to be one of the most challenging yet rewarding sports both physically and mentally.

When asked about what does the sport deliver, Mr Mpe had this to say; “ The sport is not necessarily about just swinging swords, no but it’s about reading your opponents moves and waiting to strike at the ideal time as well as considering your own move set in the process”.

Many of the fencing affiliates have said that the sport has helped them think quicker and move instinctual in daily life challenges.
